Bus Stop Witness

April 8, 2008

Dearly Beloved of our Lord:

Ron’s Testimony ~ Today I was waiting at the bus stop in order to ride downtown to meet up with brethren for a day at Pioneer Courthouse Square when a young man in his mid-thirties came up and sat down next to me.  We started out talking about enjoying a sun break on a cold, windy, wet, spring day.  Then we talked about various events going on and their effect on us and this gave me an opportunity to share a scripture which the Holy Spirit has been bringing to my heart several times each day.

“He has shown you, O man what is good;

And what does the LORD require of you

But to do justly,

To love mercy,

And to walk humbly with your God?”  (Micah 6:8)

After this my fellow bus passenger started talking about how he has been understanding the scriptures much better lately, even though he had thought they were just foolishness for many years.  He went on to share with me how he had spent about thirty years in drinking, using drugs, and trying to party but that was all changing now that he is experiencing forgiveness.  He went on to share about the importance of repenting and receiving forgiveness and how his life is changing.

Then the bus pulled up and we got on and sat down in different areas of the bus and our conversation had ended.  After getting off the bus I walked by his window, tapped on it, and waved good-bye and he gave me the “V sign” for victory and peace.

What I good way to begin a day of ministry in downtown Portland.

When you meet people who are just coming to know and walk with our Lord we would like to hear your story.  Perhaps we can send them out as a part of an email newsletter to encourage others.
