Mexico Mission - 4/18/08

Dear Friends,

We are excited to share that our friend Ramon, that we had you pray for in our last letter, accepted the forgiveness and eternal life that come through faith in Jesus Christ yesterday.  We have been sharing about Jesus and His offer of eternal life, to all who believe in Him, for the last several months.  But Ramon was not able to understand the message.  He had many questions and stumbling blocks along the way.  He is around 60 years old I'm guessing.  I got the idea to share with him the story of the Israelites in the desert when snakes come and bite and kill many of them for their complaining against Moses and God.  After the people repent for their complaining, God instructs Moses to make a snake out of bronze and put it up on a pole.  The people are told that if they will look at the bronze snake, they will live and be cured.  Then in the gospel of John, Jesus says that just as the snake was lifted up in the desert, so too He would be lifted up so that all who believe in Him will have eternal life.  I shared with Ramon that when Jesus was lifted up on the cross, He did all the work necessary to give us eternal life and forgiveness of sins.  And the only way to receive His gifts is to accept them by faith.  (These accounts are found in Numbers 21:4-9 and John 3:14-15)

The light finally came on for Ramon.  We prayed together confessing our need of His forgiveness, thanking Jesus for all the wonderful work He's done and accepting by faith all the gifts He offers.  This is now the beginning of his new journey that I hope to be a part of teaching and growing him up spiritually.  Please pray for him that this seed will find well fertilized and watered soil and grow to produce a large crop.  Also pray for God's blessing on his business, because he has been struggling lately and is thinking about closing his business which would mean he would no longer be near us.  I would like him to stay so we can continue meeting so conveniently.  Above is a picture of Ramon, he's on the right.

Also, a couple weeks ago, we decided to put money down on a solar water heater for the orphanage.  But the fellow that owns the store was so kind that he let us take it and install it even though we hadn't paid for it completely (this is quite unheard of in Mexico).   WeSolar Water Heater have now turned off all the water heaters in the orphanage and are solely using the new one.  The water gets very hot.  Today was when we would normally fill our natural gas tank, but there is still plenty of gas.  So it's already saving money.  We owe about $300 dollars still on the water heater, so we're asking if anyone would like to contribute to paying it off, let us know.  I've attached a form that you can use to send a tax deductible donation.

We love you all very much and thank you for your support!

In the Blessed and Holy name of JESUS!
